Welcome back for another season of collection on the Islands! And welcome to Thimble Islands Ferry Company, LLC to serve as our collection contractor. The schedules, methods, and materials are the same as last year, but recycling is a little different than onshore, so please read this letter and additional material carefully. Collections are weekly between May and October. During the main season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) collection of garbage is on Mondays and Thursdays, and recyclables is on Thursdays.
Pursuant to Public Act 07-194 mandatory post-election hand count audits are to be conducted by the Registrars of Voters in 5% of the voting districts randomly selected to participate by the Secretary of State. These audits shall be open to public inspection. The primary purpose of the hand count audit is to assess how well the optical scan voting machines functioned in an actual election and to ensure that votes cast using these machines are counted properly and accurately.
JOIN A VIRTUAL MEETING ABOUT DISASTER MITIGATION
The public is invited to learn about the regions’ Hazard Mitigation Plan and to voice their opinions about how each municipality should mitigate risk. The meeting includes an introduction to the contents of the recently developed Hazard Mitigation Plan with an emphasis on actions to mitigate risk to people, buildings, and infrastructure from natural hazards such as floods, winter storms, and hurricanes.
New resident stickers for access to the Transfer Station and Parker Memorial Park are now available for purchase at the Tax Collector’s Office. (Newly expired Branford residency stickers will be accepted at the Transfer Station and Parker Memorial Park only until April 1, 2022). The new stickers are valid for two years.

Preparation and milling has been scheduled to begin the week of September, 16, 2021, weather permitting, paving is to follow. Motorists and residents are cautioned that traffic may experience minor delays and detours during this construction period.
